Winter in Mayrhofen
During the winter months, the Zillertal valley is all about skiing and snowboarding. Or not? Winter hikes, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ski tours, ice skating and much more are waiting to be discovered.
Our house Penkenblick is in the immediate vicinity of both the Penkenbahn and the Ahornbahn mountain lifts. State-of-the-art cable cars will take you to the ski areas on the action mountain Penken and the leisure mountain Ahorn in no time. The Ahorn also scores with a sporty valley descent.
The cross-country skier knows how to enjoy nature and is offered various opportunities in Mayrhofen. A groomed trail is in front of our house. All trails are marked and offer connection to the neighboring trails.
If you are missing the right equipment, you can rent it inexpensively from one of our ski rentals.
Zillerpromenade
There are beautiful trails along the two banks of the Ziller river. Decide for yourself how far you go and simply go back by train.
Wiesenhof
Starting from the village of Dorf Haus on the old Stillupperweg trail to the Wiesenhof, you walk through a beautiful winter forest then. Downhill, a prepared toboggan run invites you to tobogganing fun.
Ascent via the Zillertaler Höhenstraße (high alpine road) to the Gasthof Mösl or the Atlas Sportalm. From the Gasthof Mösl you hike along the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse to the Atlas Sportalm. From there, a spacious winter hiking trail leads to the Rastkogelhütte hut. There is also the option of sledding down here.
The longest natural toboggan run (7km long!) in the Zillertal is located on the Hainzenberg near the Gerlossteinbahn. The Gerlossteinbahn lift takes you to the mountain station at 1,650 m, where the toboggan run starts. The toboggan run is illuminated (until 1.00 a.m.). So that nothing stands in the way of a romantic evening trip, two rustic inns invite you to stop. Toboggans can be hired for a small fee next to the valley station of the Gerlossteinbahn.
Other toboggan runs are located in Ginzling, in the Floitental valley from the Tristenbachalm and from the Höllensteinhütte and the Grieralm and the Bichlalm in Tux.

Guided tours are advertised again and again by the tourism association as well as the Zillertal Nature Park.
The ice rink is only three minutes away from our house. Skates can be rented on site.
